In the morning I installed the
washers and was able to adjust the valve on the #3 cylinder again. We
then started off with a strong running bus and headed towards Kansas
City with the idea of finding a VW mechanic there.

Another crazy town name -
Mexico. We stuck to our usual backroads.

As we drove we happened (!)
across another covered bridge.

This one had a smaller bridge
next to it so we were able to get some different angles.

There were a number of other
covered bridges in Missouri but we only saw this one because of our
engine troubles.

Here is a complete history and
all kinds of other information.

We passed through all kinds of
Missouri farmland, mostly corn and soy.

We were finally heading
westward, so in the afternoon the sun was in our face instead of at our
back like before. At least we got to see some really nice sunsets from
the comfort of our home.

Welcome to Miami (Missouri) |
Although you can't tell anything
from the picture, this is a blue moon. A blue moon is the second full
moon in a month, and on July 31, 2004 this happened.
