Lewiston, Idaho --> Clearwater wilderness near Lolo Pass, Idaho

The first thing David did in the morning was to take out the alternator and put the new one in. Since the bus engine compartment has better access than the Porsche, it took him way less time. Finally it was in. And the battery light did not come on!!!

We left the Hell´s Gate National park after long showers and started heading towards Montana. We picked a scenic highway and decided to drive less today.

The highway followed the Lochsa River and we drove for many peaceful miles...

.. until at one point we took some gas in a gas station and then the bus started making a weird knocking sound.

<-- This is a view of the garbage containers we had when we heard the knocking sound in the engine.
We drove on knowing that we have to find a campground soon. At one point we got hungry and stopped at a little pull-out by the river. We had some sandwiches and David washed the utensils right in the Lochsa river.

It was getting late so we stopped at the first campground we liked (it was the third one we passed) and set up our house. On this campground we had nice neighbors - ground squirrels. We made a nice meal (I think it was pasta) and went to sleep.
