So on Thursday, June 24th, we
finally leave. David´s mom and the kids are in a children´s
museum so our departure is quiet. The house on these pictures is the
3-bedroom house David´s mom and Bill are renting right now.

We leave at about 3
o´clock in the afternoon. We have not eaten breakfast or lunch
this day but we decide to just start driving and not stop until we get
to the mountains. Since we spent two and half days here we feel the
need to be on the road, to get going. Last days made us feel that maybe
we won´t ever leave. But eventually we do drive off singing
Willie Nelson´s song ¨On the Road Again¨.

We pass the mountains heading
to Eastern Washington. Originally we had an idea that we would drive
all the way to Spokane on the first day so that we would get out of the
areas where we have already been. But we started so late that the sun
is disappearing behind the mountains as we cross them.

Western Washington was cool, we
had to wear jeans and I had a warm sweater on. As we get to the other
side of the mountains it gets instantly warmer. I start peeling off my
sweaters and shirts, take off my socks and shoes. We open the windows
as we drive and it still feels hot. Thermometers by the road give a
temperature of about 84 degrees Fahrenheit.

The sun is setting fast and we
need to find a place to camp. We follow a small dirt road to in an
Indian Reservation near Yakima and turn off onto even smaller road and
camp by the side of the road. We eat some and fall fast asleep.
