This state park was the
nastiest where we´d been. It was really dirty - garbage was
everywhere, the bathrooms were filthy and people were drinking and not
looking friendly and nice at all. We were glad to leave in the morning.
We crossed back to Nebraska to go to the zoo. Below is the main
attraction to kids - not the animals but a fountain where water turned
a big stone ball of the Earth. The plexiglass dome is as they claim the
biggest indoor desert. It was big but the animals were still in really
small cages and most of the space was used up by paths and stone. It
was also air conditioned - it was nice and cool in there and outside it
was really-really hot.

The coolest thing in the zoo was the aquarium. The had a great big room
of penguins and you could see the underwater part too so you could see
how they swam. And in their cage it snowed!
The stripy fish below is a clownfish, in other words Nemo.

David liked the sharks best. There was an aquarium where you stood
inside a tunnel and fish swam on both sides of you and above you in one
great big tank.

I liked the seahorses best, they were cool. There was one seahorse that
looked like a tree - it had green body parts sticking out like branches.
The fish below is another cartoon fish - Dory.

We walked around a bit more but not in the whole zoo. It was so hot
that every pore in the body was sweating. Quite soon we were ready to
leave. The car was like a sauna but eventually we got moving and the
air cooled us off a little bit. After a stop in a co-op we crossed back
to Iowa.

That day we did not cover much distance since we had spent most of the
day in the zoo. We tuned off the main road and found a small county
park. It was maybe 6 or 7 in the evening but it was so hot and muggy
[õhk oli väga niiske] that it was most comfortable to be in
a swimming suit.
