We spent some time walking
around the campground nature trails and then headed into Missoula where
they have the most wonderful natural food store, The Good Food Store or
something like that. It's huge! While we were pulling out we saw the
pink VW bus you see below.

From Missoula we continued west
across the Rockies. It was uneventful but quite beautiful.

We rolled over 20,000 miles!
About 7,000 of those were on this trip.

And finally we crossed into
Idaho. We were in the northern part which is only about 50 miles
across. We originally thought to stop for a while in Coeur D'Alene but
we ended up just having ice cream at Dairy Queen.

Soon we found ourselves in
Washington! We spent some time looking for a tourist information office
to replace our Washington map that is falling apart, but found that the
tourist information was the worst we had seen. The only map they had
was a joke, and there was little information on camping. They seemed
geared towards getting you to spend your money on really boring things.
We continued on with our ragged but good gas station map.

We continued through the desert
until finally it started cooling off.

We drove across a large part of
the state, and drove until dusk. The campground markings on our map
left a lot to be desired after our wonderful Montana map, so we drove
to a campground we've stayed at before. There we saw not only another
bus, but a Riviera conversion just like ours! It was pretty late so we
figured we'd catch them in the morning. It's always interesting to see
what other people have done with their bus.

Twilight on the Columbia River
was really beautiful that night.
