to cover up in the sun when it gets too hot; French pattern

Wednesday — mermaid tank top

last summer I made O+S popover dress out of it, I had just enough left to squeeze out a tank top; worn with cropped linen pants from day 1; tank top Japanese pattern

Thursday — linen pants with lace pocket

lace from my grandmother’s stash; linen thrifted; French pattern

Friday — unicorn dress

leftover fabric from my sundress from last year, now I have just a couple teeny scraps left; worn with linen pants from a day ago; dress Japanese pattern

Saturday — linen hat

we went sailing and I knew that I wouldn’t be home near my sewing machine. So this is sewn 100% by hand (I cut out the pieces and ironed on interfacing the previous day); inside is lined in pink cotton, outer thrifted linen; Ottobre summer 2010 pattern

Sunday — cotton/poly sundress + matching purse

crummy picture, it is past midnight and light is nil; but the dress has two vintage buttons on the back; French pattern

All in all I am happy because it started like this:

sitting and reading (or hand sewing, knitting, crocheting, embroidering, using computer (my laptop is on the edge of the table) etc)

or seriously sewing

And really, it is almost one place even though for me it is two.

Easter dress (Feliz by Farbenmix and Debbie Bliss inspired shrug)

I am still fighting the WordPress wars. I have hope that one day I will figure it out.  I will leave you with the image I was trying to use as header. It refuses to move up there (as do all other images I tried in other themes). Someday I might be able to modify images in WordPress too. Right now all of the buttons in image editing do nothing. Kind of like placebos : )

We dyed 6 eggs.  And then promptly ate them : )

This was the first time we dip-dyed. We have always just used the food coloring as paint and used paint brushes. But I wasn’t really ready to do the whole dying on Saturday morning so I went with the ease.

I had some food coloring markers (that I bought 3 years ago in Europe) that still worked.

Liisa’s wobbly backwards writing (it is in Estonian and it should have double “o”). This is a rosebush.

There were several eggs Liisa wanted to eat so she solved the problem by having half of each of them.

Liisa’s design and pattern, David cut out and I sewed. All in a short hour after dinner.

Mõte selline karu õmmelda tuli raamatust ¨Suur Karuraamat¨. Seal oli nimelt pilt vedrujalgadega karust ja Liisa hakkas kohe endale sellist karu tahtma. Mina olin algul skeptiline, et ega sellist ma vist küll teha ei oska. Aga Liisa teadis kuidas saab ja näitas ja õpetas. Ja nii ta valmis saigi!

The weather has warmed to almost summery feel. The air is balmy and the birches have teeny tiny leaves. Just in time to cast on a wool shawl, no?

Just one thing on the needles right now: Citron in Malabrigo Lace Stonechat.

Earlier in the day I had a short sleeved sweater in the works, right now it is blocking : )

Today I called my dad and he told Liisa that he had a small teddy bear. As I was hanging up (is it still called hanging up if you use skype?) she told me that we NEED to make another bear for him. So for the next two hours we were busy making this

Liisa picked colors, I cut and sewed most, she added nose and muzzle and beads to the dress; and stuffed with plastic pellets. Often it is mostly her sewing, today she knocked over a container of seed bead and after we had spent half an hour picking them out of the carpet the interest was more or less gone.

But later when I dealt with such mundane things as dishes she drew a book

and letter.

And in case you are wondering, all the spelling was correct, it is just in Estonian. I am quite proud of her, she spelled most by herself, sounding words out, we only had small discussion about k versus g and omission of one letter from one word.
